The Preparation of Examinations and Procedures module emphasizes preparation, examination, and treatment areas, assisting with general physical examinations, assisting with exams in basic specialties, assisting with highly specialized exams, obtaining vital signs & measurements, electrocardiography (ECG), and pulmonary function testing, x-rays and diagnostic radiology. The student will have knowledge of diagnostic tests and procedures, cardiology procedures, and diagnostic and radiological examinations. Students learn Anatomy & Physiology of the endocrine and reproductive systems as well as special senses and essential medical terminology. Students check vital signs and differentiate between normal values for pediatric and adult patients. They obtain blood samples and prepare syringes and medications for administration. The student will learn to prepare patients for a variety of examinations, positioning and draping, assisting with special examinations as well as assisting with procedures of the eye and ear.
